My Dream

Does this remind you of anyone?


My family should recognize this as my old dream job. When I was younger I thought the most ideal job would be a cashier at a grocery store. I couldn't think of anything more fun then ringing the food over the scanner and working the buttons on a register. I did grow out of this dream eventually (actually I never was a cashier). When I found Neal here playing I couldn't help but think of those days and those old dreams of mine...

Reading and Relaxing

One of my favorite things to do with Neal is read him stories. I love to watch his face light up when we read a new story and to see him point out all the things he recognizes in the illustrations. I also love to read his favorite stories over and over again and see him get excited as he helps me "read" the stories that have become so familiar.


One thing that I have wanted to do is set a habit of reading the Bible together. I tired to start this by reading Bible stories while eating breakfast, but it didn't work out as well as I had planned. With Neal's messy hands trying to touch the pages and just the craziness that mornings bring I found myself getting more frustrated with Bible story reading then enjoying it. So we decided to switch our Bible time to before bed. Now instead of just reading any book before bed we always make sure to read one (or more) Bible stories. Neal has loved this, as have I, and his favorite story is Adam & Eve.


I have had a lot of extra time on my hands lately, as we live at the missionary housing in the lodge. So when Neal is napping I have enjoyed sitting down outside in the sun and taking some time to just relax and get lost in a good book. These are the books I have been reading lately.


I would recomend these to anyone looking for a good read. They have been fun, enjoyable and thought provoking. As anxious as I am to get a home of our own and be able to settle down (and get out of our suitcases) I have to say I am enjoying this extra time that I have and am sure I will miss these lazy afternoons. So, for now I will enjoy the sun, some sweet tea and good book.

Little Chef

To say Neal likes to cook is an understatement, he LOVES it! If there is a toy kitchen he is playing with it the whole time. He always wants to be in the kitchen with me and if I ever ask him if he wants to help me cook he eagerly replays "yes!"

So when we went to the Children's Museum here in Raleigh Neal quickly descovered their kitchen and continued to spend the next hour cooking away and making all sorts of interesting dishes.




His favorite food to "make" is toast & eggs or peanut butter and Jelly and french fries. He even takes "orders" over the phone. His most loyal customers (besides Tyler and I) are Elmo, Grandfather and Super Grover.


I sure wouldn't mind having a chef in the family. Maybe as he gets older he will take over making a few dinners for me...I can dream at least, right?

Silly Singing

Dreaming of Baseball

Thank you Grandma and Papa for the baseball bat and ball for Easter!


Neal has hardly stopped playing with it since he got it...


He even keept it with him during movie night. We may have a future baseball playing on our hand (which makes this mommy happy)


He does need to work on his batting skills...keeping his eyes on the ball is not his strong point.

Our Easter

We had a wonderful, sunny, warm Easter this year. The first Easter in a long time without snow outside. This year we drove from NC to Ohio to spend the holiday weekend with Neal's Aunt Jessi and soon to be Uncle Wes (Congratulations to on their engagement!)

I believe the most fun part of the whole weekend was decorating eggs on Saturday night. I had no idea how much fun Neal would have with the egg decorating. My favorite part was watching Neal drop the eggs in the dye (not very gently), stirring them around and then pulling them out and saying "oh no" as he noticed all the cracks (he had no idea he had made these cracks by dropping them - he was just very worried that they were cracked).


After dying 18 eggs and wanting to dye more I had to tell Neal he had to stop. We then moved on to coloring the dyed eyes with markers and adding stickers.


Neal got almost as much dye on himself as he did on the eggs. It took several washings to get all the dye off of his hands and chest.



Tyler even got creative and came up with a few of his own designs...


It was a wonderful weekend with family and friends enjoying food, fun and rejoicing in the remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for us.
