Camping- both a failure and success story

Over 4th of July weekend we drove north to go camping with 3 other families making it a group of 8 adults, 3 dogs and 5 kids age 3 and under. It started out as a great trip, Neal was able to enjoy dinner with everyone but it was all down hill after that.

The first night there Neal threw-up all night. Camping and a kid who gets the stomach flu does not make for a good experience and sadly we had to pack-up and head home with our sick little boy. Tyler and I were so excited to take Neal camping and were very disappointed that we had to cut the trip short. Neal managed to get a few hours of sleep that night with Tyler and I but once we got home we spent the rest of the weekend sitting on the couch, watching TV and reading stories.

Neal is at a great age for camping. Everything is so fun, new and exciting for him that we were very sad he had to miss out on the camping experience. So, we decided to go camping the following weekend, for a second try. Saturday morning we repacked all our camping gear, which was freshly washed, and headed north again to camp at Big Lake. We had a lot of fun this time and Neal loved it! We got to go on a boat ride across the lake and visited with Tyler's cousins who have a cabin on the lake.

We spent most of the weekend at our campsite, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire and letting Neal play in the dirt. Neal loved being able to be outside all day long and really enjoyed getting to sleep in the tent with mom, dad and Yawkey.

Neal and his friend Kaleb had a great time running around outside all day, playing with the dogs and rolling in the dirt. I look forward to more family camping trips in the future.
