Fishing in Homer

Summer is never complete here in AK with out at least one fishing trip. This year, Tyler, Kyle, my dad and my father-in-law all went out on an overnight Halibut charter, and it was a great trip. We all drove down to Homer last Sunday where my mom, Neal and I sent the men off on the fishing boat and then spent the afternoon/evening in Homer.


There is not really much to share about out time Homer due to the rain, pouring rain. We spent the evening in the car reading while Neal napped and then went to McDonalds so Neal could play while we tried to find somewhere to go that was inside, protected from the rain. Sadly we had no luck so we drove around and planned out lots of fun things to do in the morning, weather permitting. We then called it an evening and headed to our Bed & Breakfast to put Neal to bed and play games for the evening.

The guys however had a great time on the Halibut charter. The weather was starting to act up a bit and they did say the swells were quite large out at sea, but they all made it through without getting sick.


The guys charter came into dock much earlier then expected so all our plans for the day in Homer were cut short. We simply met all them at the Two Sister's Bakery for breakfast and to hear all the stories about the charter trip. They all came away with 4 Halibut each! Hurray! So needless to say our freezer is now full with Halibut. You won't find me complaining though 'cause it's a nice change from Caribou.


We stopped by the river on our way home and tried to get a few salmon...no such luck that day, but it was a beautiful day out so it was nice to sit in the sun and visit. Neal had a great time walking down to the river with Grandma and playing in the dirt. Water, dirt and fishing - is there anything more fun for a boy?




My parents have been up visiting for the past week and we have done lots of fun things. The weather has been great and so the possibilities of things to do outside have been endless. Lots more pictures and stories of my parents visit to come. Just for a little glimpse this is how much Neal loves his Grandma, or as he calls her "Nana".
